Also just bought this on JP’s recommendations.

Most of the scientific info is way over my head but very interesting and I’m not at the stage yet where it tell you how the f*ck to set up your training over the week.

I think the basic entry level version is going to be the one for me anyway…

I have been doing this exactly as outlined in the programme for about 6 weeks. I intended running it until Christmas. Last week I lost all motivation out of nowhere, didn’t want to eat on a weekend and didn’t want to go to the gym either. Would not advise adding extra volume into this and traps get plenty from non traditional trap moves [i.e. not shrugs].

To keep things fresh I trained 3 times this week at a different gym, used some different equipment and didn’t necessarily try to hit any fresh PBs. A full week off would not have helped I feel, not sure if anyone else agrees but a change of scenery does help when training is absolutely battering you.

Jordan it would be great to see some podcasts [on here], like the ones Mark Coles has done recently [the BPak one was great].

Actually you’d be a great ‘guest’ for Mark himself. You are both hitting off season and would be great to hear more about your approach to it this time around with different goals in mind.

Certainly shouldn’t be using the word blame. you know you can nail that condition, in 12 months nobody is going to add the amount of tissue that you were carrying. There were 2 wtf moments for me on Sat, the first was when you walked on stage and your left arm looked twice the size of everyone following you.

The other wtf moment was when Dave Titterton hit his tricep pose; he was the winner from the second he walked on stage but when he hit that pose it was game over. That is the standard right there.

Looking forward to off season blog.

Just got back from show. For those wondering why JP didn’t place top 6 – put it this way if he’d have been in the top 6 he’d have been placed first. What I mean by this is he was the biggest and freakiest on stage and nobody in the class brought anything close or similar. That’s not taking anything away from the quality because the class 3 winner also won overall and placed 6th in the pro show.

Got some good pics [and some rubbish ones] that show this perfectly. Absolutely huge.

Really looking forward to seeing you on stage tomorrow. And just how sick Corinne’s hair is this time…

Good luck buddy, you will be the biggest on stage so live up to it 🙂

12 weeks, the sessions are demanding but recovery is no problem compared to twice daily training. I know what numbers I want to hit and what I want the scales to say. Just had a great leg day, no horrible lunge/RDL supersets x 4, but a squat PB.

May need JP to re-do my diet though as I preferred the front pics from the end of Extreme Lean…

Do you have an idea of a schedule for the Universe? Can’t find online but I suppose you’ve been sent one, if so would you be able to paste it on here somehow? Or at least an idea of what time you’ll both be on stage?

Asking on your log rather than Jordan’s as you’re more likely to be organised… 🙂

Corinne a question re the scoop of protein at night: if this is literally waking up at a set time in the middle of the night and knocking a shake back, is this really necessary/optimal? Considering you are training 2/3 times a day would is it not essential to sleep straight through? Sounds like something the bodybuilders of the 70s/80s may have done. I’ve read JP talk about taking BCAAs in the night too.

Also, without bias, a lot of people had you winning the Brits and I don’t think you looked flat or stringy at all. I agree with that guy above – I doubt there’s anyone working harder and there’s definitely nobody with a better coach so no reason to worry about one setback.

Just watched your chest session with Wayne on the video page. There are very few girls who could train with 2 top male BBers and not look out of place. Liked the dancing during JP’s sets too. That would put me at ease if you were spotting me..

My question is this: I notice the bar touches your chest on every rep. Sometimes on my worksets on bench, especially flat, this becomes very difficult, almost impossible. Is there anything you would advise here to work on this other than lowering the poundage? Stretching, any particular assistance exercise, set up? Thanks in advance. 🙂

Bit of a different question JP, what is your weekly food bill during this prep?

Is it more than an off season [more food], I know some guys will insist on higher quality food during a prep, only organic or whatever. i.e. tinned tuna is fine during an off season but won’t get you into the contest shape that you are looking for. Do you agree?

It was on the last extreme lean phase 2, the flat benching and the dumbbell benching I just sucked at, maybe because it was more work sets than I’d done for a while, or maybe because it was 7 in the morning lol.

I remember emailing you when doing the mass programme as my close grip had got better than my previous regular bench, such was the strength increase, which was so cool. This carried over to my decline bench but then when I went back to regular flat it had just gone.

Might try the JP special at GBK before I next flat bench!

Jord do you ever find that when you leave a lift for a while [using bench as an example] when you go back to it you are considerably weaker than your last logbook entry?

For example, at week one bench 80kg 8 reps, end of training phase after maybe eight weeks bench 95kg 8 reps, then when you return to the exercise you are closer to the 80kg x 8.

Is this normal and is there a way to prevent this or to build strength back up quickly? Is it just a case of ensuring food remains high?

Jord is there any intensity technique you are using now that you absolutely wouldn’t use in an off season/mass plan?

“single arm leaning dumbell side raise, leaning increases tension through the range of motion, left arm right arm left arm right arm no rest 15kg 10 reps then 6 reps”

Thinking of stuff like this; straight sets with no rest as an example as I’m doing something very similar now [weirdly before reading the above] after my heavy pressing etc.

Well done on the win Corinne. Like I said on Insta, you are the only person who rows 2 plates on a light day [and holds a bench press record] that I’m not a little bit scared of. Incredible achievement especially in between shows.

A benching video working up to 1rm comp testing one day would be great!
