Building muscle is a signalling process and not a net-energy balance process. Body has an incredible ability to re-distribute its composition. Energy can be taken from fatty acids to be used in the assimilation of muscle protein synthesis.
Is this process harder – yes of course, as you don’t have an abundance of energy to pull from easily – and it’s considerably harder for naturals, whilst those on PED’s can and do it very easily
