Hi mate, definitely the right call to make here. It’s best to get a professional opinion who can assess you in person and help give you the next steps on getting you back on track. Let us know how you get on

Last rest day of my planned deload today. Far from resting though, morning walk, client work / in person posing client, final bit of shopping today for my daughter’s 8th birthday coming up. Not long finished having a sports massage which was deffo needed, some work on my upper body and also lower today. My replacement oura ring has arrived today so looking forward to get that back on the go, as I’ve been using my phone to track data this last week and it just isn’t the same

thanks for the responses!
I haven’t had an mri done yet, the bursitis was diagnosed by a radiologist who did an ultrasound and x-ray of it, they also inserted the cortisone under ultrasound so it was injected in the right place. On the ultrasound, they saw that it is only inflammation and no tear or problems with the tendons. Side laterals and mobility exercises do not hurt, is it ok to continue doing this? Or would this still make the inflammation worse?
I’ve also heard positive things about shockwave, this is definitely something I’m going to check out.
Thanks!
It’s good that you had an ultrasound and X-ray done. An mri is more in depth as it looks at the cartilage, bone and other structures inside and around the joint. I think if you are still getting pain from training like you said this would personally be my take on what I would look into. Shockwave therapy again is useful and a treatment I’ve used in the past which has given me short term joy, but if I was to rewind the clock with my pain i had with my shoulder my first choice option would be to spend the money on mri see exactly what’s going on then make a decision on what the next steps should be treatment wise instead of spending money on various treatments

So… I’ve been given a 4 day deload, 2 of those days are over this weekend and also Monday / Tuesday off from weights and cardio. It’s been a busy weekend with my kids and an enjoyable one so I’m hoping tomorrow and Tuesday I’ll be able to get the rest in needed before getting back to it. Visually Kuba is happy, it’s normally around this point 5-6 weeks from training when it starts to catch up with me fatigue wise. Appetite is in a good spot which is the best it’s been this deep into a push up so positives to take for sure.

A day with the family today. It’s my youngest daughter’s birthday soon, so took a shopping trip to get some gifts ready for her birthday. Check in pics sent over to Kuba this morning along with feedback, will update you guys tomorrow on the plan for the coming week once I’ve got full feedback. Off to bed now, deffo ready for a good sleep

I think you’ve made a really good point yourself by saying, we are all different. With this how much cardio you may need will be dependent on your timeline for your cut, your body composition / how much bodyfat needs to come off you, your rate of loss each week etc.
The time of cardio is your choice. It already sounds like you have worked out a routine that works for you to allow you to train at a good level and not have cardio impact you, so here I would say continue with this routine. How much cardio you will need time wise will be based on my earlier points

Hit an early leg session today with Karlton and it was a good one. Felt a little down still with energy today, but a scoop of DNFM pre workout and some fire to hit good numbers and I had a really good session. New pb on the Cybex squat press 10pps + 1 25kg pps for 7+1 reps. Only downside was that on rep 4 I felt a little niggle in my left knee so that made me cautious for the rest of the set and where I would have pushed for another rep I ended the set to make sure I didn’t make matters worse. The rest of my session went fine after that so no major concerns here.

Hi bud
So I can relate to you with having a shoulder problem, having recently had a shoulder operation in late December. Your shoulder could well be inflamed so training will be causing pain even with you having the cortisone injection.
How was your bursitis diagnosed, have you had an mri scan or X-ray on your shoulder? If you haven’t I would definitely look into getting an mri scan to see exactly what is going on at your shoulder because otherwise it’s guess work. This will give you the best direction moving forwards on how you can get back to full speed with training.
Let me know how you get on and all the best for a speedy recovery

Hi guys, felt ruined today pretty tired after yesterdays travelling. But, cardio got done and also pull session. Client work and in person posing clients completed my day.

I really like a single leg press alternative myself when I’m either peak off season or towards the end of a prep.
So if you are in a deficit and stability has taken a hit, the popping a leg press alternative would be a great option.
This is the same approach I follow also!

Rest day for me today. Went to see my physio today so been on the motorway driving over 3 hours in total. Worked on some exercises for my shoulder, transverse abdominals and hip stability. A lot more challenging than I imagined, but I’ll stick with it to improve these areas. Feel pretty fried today, looking forward to getting my last meal in and an early night before my date with the stairmaster tomorrow morning lol

As long as you can space your meals out evenly throughout the day and keeping your digestion in a good spot, eating a few hours after waking then it’s absolutely fine.

Really good leg session today with my training partner Karlton, he’s back today after his eye operation a few weeks ago. He’s just under 5 weeks out from his first show so I made sure he’s staying on it pushing in these final weeks of prep. This is the best my legs have felt in an off season with size and strength so I’m going to keep rinsing this phase to get as much tissue added on my frame
