hey steven…I myself do both physique comps and powerlifting pretty much simultaneously….of course when getting extrememly lean, strength does drop a little and it can be more dangerous to lift heavy…BUT I sit very lean all year round now and strength increases…don’t fixate on the 3 main lifts…and I wouldn’t be using sub 3 rep maxes in training sessions…keep strength gains within the 5-8 rep range and progress…plan nutrition around strength and recovery and use rest days and other windows in the day as more ‘fat loss’ periods and you will drop fat whilst gaining strength

the carbs in Lucozade as far as I no are mainly from dextrose…the science and benefits of cyclic dextrin are pretty undisputable in comparison to other carbs…as owain as expressed…maybe the coach was just trying to make a point that simple sugars can be used…who knows! but I wont be using Lucozade 🙂

id sit with the carbs where they are and let your body recomp on the calories by training HARD…you can up energy expenditure to drop fat rather then drop food

absolutely simon…in fact I prefer to stay off the scales completely! weight can e affected by such minor changes from day to day that it can hinder/alter decision making…go by the mirror, measuremnts and strength and the fit of your clothes 🙂

im not a fan of blending food…simply as I like to eat! so I would use whey if a shake was needed…but yes yoghurt, oils, oats nut butters all mix well 🙂 im not brave enough for raw egg or tuna haha

hey danny, it depends on how much fat you need to lose, as long as energy expenditure out weighs your calorie input then you will e in a deficit and will drop fat so the time you do your cardio to some degree doesn’t matter….preferably liss cardio at roughly 130pm for at least 20mins as far from weights as possible would be good…so maybe pre bed if AM isn’t an option
have you considered HIIT too? This would be beneficial on a rest day…depending on diet, I would do this before ingesting carbs

when we did ft, we didn’t warm up for pump sets for upper body beyond 4-5 reps to just squeeze that muscle so its ready for work. lower body the leg press was still heavy so warmed up progressively for that still.

it doesn’t need cycling as receptors don’t down regulate, i keep intake away from carbs and start at 10mg/day , adding 5mg doses ontop uptil 30mg max. this is person dependant and may cause anxiety at that dose, so be sensible and careful. prime nutritions uk stockist sell it
