It is literally activation work takes 5 minutes – generally it will be something that will aid in mobility and actually get some blood into muscle I will train
Legs – split squat variations planks hip airplane
Pull / push shoulder rotational work 1 set of core work some banded stuff
5-10 minutes of movement max to prepare mentally more so to go the fuck in without tearing your shit
Thanks Kuba

Most people who post YouTube videos (like Kuba & Meg) often show their warm ups / activation exercises along with the benefits to doing them, but you can also just do a quick search on YouTube for the body part you’re looking for & quite a few results come up!
In terms of warm ups, once I’ve activated the target areas / stretched to loosen things up I tend to do a couple of feeler sets of an exercise to get into the motion of the movement before going into a working set. Hope that helps
Thanks April

I agree with rich, it sounds so simple but if your issue is overthinking about the set then don’t think about it like joe says you have the logbook numbers so it’s not like you can’t do the set so just find a song that gets YOU in that headspace as what I listen to or what the tbjp guys listen to might not get you into that headspace you need, everyone’s music taste is different just find that song stop thinking about the set and just get in that headspace ready to attack the set
Thanks Farbod will do that in my next sessions

Finding the right song can help so much!! It doesn’t need to be scremo kind of music either!! I have done my heaviest dead’s to Disney (no word of a lie) hehe!!
Thanks Rhea.

Bro you’re overthinking so much. Number 1 you probs have log book numbers so you literally KNOW you can lift the weight, and if you’ve taken care of all the variable around training like food/hydration/sleep etc then there is no reason you should bail a set. Stop overthinking, stick on A banger and get the f**k after it. Soz if that’s tough love but yeah, let’s gooo
Thanks Joe.

Hey buddy! Have you tried not listening to anything? Just focusing on the task at hand. It would be silly for me to tell you not to overthink as I know it’s something your probably not really in control of. However maybe just try and channel those thoughts into what you want to get out of the set. Think about what you want to achieve from it. Wether it be an amount of reps, a tempo, a weight. Keep your mind focused on that and get in the weight and give it your best!
Hey Louis, yeah i tried that but i always come back to some sort of music, because if the gym is busy its just annoying hearing some background noises.

Florian. To actually come with a serious answer what worked for me is to think about something that drives agression and also having discipline to keep rests just about long enough. If my rests are longer then what I actually need, I get frustrated by myself. Attacking a set with everything you have is a skill that one must practice daily.
Thanks Tor-Andre, will try this out next session.

I agree I choose a song and it’s usually my top set song and it out me in the soon for my set
Yeah currently looking for that top set tune, to bring me in that headspace.

My answer will sound very simplistic, but it’s a practical fix for a lot of things that people do
“Stop doing it”
Simple but hearing that from people like you helps me stop it

Fuck me how unhealthy do I look there . Man it’s scary when your so deep in you don’t even realise how much your killing yourself . Scary shit
You look like some kind of supervillain out of a marvel movie here

Jordan and I would agree on one thing. You are listenting to the wrong type of music.
Put some Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman or any other type of classical music on before your top set.
Thanks will give it a shot

I fully agree with the guys above! I have a certain few songs that I put on for nearly every top set. As soon as I press play it switches me straight in the zone, and I always like to crack straight on with it so I start my set when the beat kicks in. This doesn’t give you time to overthink etc.
DMX is my go too
Thanks Phoebe will give DMX a try.

It sounds like you may be doing what you think you need to do. Not everyone needs to get hyped or visualise before a set to perform at their best. Some need calm, some need anger, some need to spend time focussing, whereas others can just flip a switch and be in the set. I would simply find what works best for you. I personally will try not to over analyse a set beforehand, or it may add pressure and anxiety, which will likely throw me off. I like to find a song that creates an emotion in me that I can get lost in, then I’ll start the set as soon as I feel ready.
Thanks Clare, finding that one song that brings me into the set is crucial.

Yep, just choose songs with a definitive “drop” in the beat / music. Let that be your que to go – works for me everytime
Yeah thanks that helped switch on and go for it.

Thanks for all your replies. Will continue doing it that way.
