No magical foods as above but I would also add that when you carbohydrates do get very high cereal can be an uphill battle as the volume is pretty significant, especially from something like coco pops or rice crispies!

Morning guys, 174.4 this morning, must admit my mood is a little low yesterday & today, mainly because I am hearing more and more how this is effecting my clients. Most are extremely positive but it’s a harder time for everyone, and some get upset on their videos, which is hard to see.

My role is not only to navigate them through this phase with training & nutrition but also with mindset, and this is what I love about coaching.

One client yesterday was ready to pack in training for a month… after a checkin and a reminder of his why… he bought more kit and set up his lat pulldown in his bedroom… that’s the kind of stuff I love to see 🙂

Let’s keep moving forwards in whatever way we can!

Hey AJ, do you will train at home now or how you will manage this lockdown?

Most likely yes, unsure as of yet

    Hi aj .

Is there any reasoning for setting your protein intake so high ?
Also with the extra carbs bing added will you reduce it ? Kind regards

Protein will remain static at this stage Adam – it’s not really that high in all honesty. If you can digest it, and you’re having several feeds a day, your protein intake can creep high with no issues

Hope everyone is ok. Here if you need anything!

Late but my initial goals for 2021 are to finish cutting at the end of January and then do a long long massing phase, really wanna push the weight up much more than I’ve ever done, would love to hit 180lbs. Also wanna get my top set barbell back squat up to 3 PPS and conventional deadlift to 4 PPS.
    Baby goals but well doable

Let’s get after it buddy! – Where is top sets on Squat and Dead at the mo? How many reps we wanting at 3pps and 4pps?

    Yeah man??
Best back Squat is 120 x 5. Been front squatting the last while so when I begin my bulk and move swap over to back squats I should be feeling fresh and ready to hit that lift super hard. Current goal is just to get it for 5, then keep chipping away at it as I go for greater
With conventional i actually don’t know as i switched from powerlifting last September and have been doing Sumo last like 3 years. Best sumo is 180 x 3. Currently RDLing for my hinge as the parents say no pulls from the floor in my garage lol. RDL currently at 120 x 7, def have to get that to 3 plates too.
Main thing for me is really getting my bodyweight up. Going to finish the cut ~140lbs. REALLY need to get far beyond this and thats the goal.
By the way AJ, how you fixed for the next UK national lockdown?

    Morning guys, 175.4

Will do check in shots today when the light is up as I want to standardise them outside for now until we set up a black backdrop in my office space, we’ve still been posing everyday post workout anyway and I’ve been relatively happy with how I look

Rest day today with lower volume of check ins, so I’ve got the time to be on two podcasts as a guest, which I’m looking forward too.

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

Hi Aj. I was wondering why you place fats away from training? Also can I add you on mfp to see your food diary? I’ve always followed an IIFYM approach but want to level up my nutrition with a more structured approach and better food choices (massing atm)

    Hey Jake,

Haven’t used Myfitnesspal in well over a year haha – always meal plan

Fats delay uptake of glycogen and when I’m at this level of body composition I can really make use of low fat high carbohydrate post training meals. I don’t want to slow things down!

    Alexander nailed it

Very productive leg session today, left nothing on the table and now feel very smashed for it ? but rest day tomorrow so nothing a day of relaxing and an early night can’t fix! In a very solid routine at the moment and just really making sure this stays consistent throughout this entire off season whether it lasts 6 months or 14 months, every day counts ?

176.2 lbs this morning – Leg Day!

Yesterdays Push went very well took 46×6 on high incline dumbbell, which is not TOOO far off my off season best.

Spoke to Kuba about fitness in the off season and he encouraged keeping some cardio in so will be adding 20 mins everyday upon wake besides leg days from now on, just on the bike, will literally hop on as I wake, whack a podcast on, get it done and crack on with the day. Feeling the effects of not doing cardio now, not that I’m ‘heavy’ but I just feel more sluggish day to day.

Anyway, I have hack numbers to beat today so that’s the next task.

    Awesome pulling, AJ.
I had a question that maybe you could weigh in on, as you have a pivot leg Press in your rotation. One of the gyms I use for a leg rotation has a cybex squat Press for the leg Press. I like this Press, but the back angle is not adjustable, and I have trouble reaching depth with having my lower back round and create discomfort. I have tried putting a plate on the seat to change the angle, but it didnt work well. Do you have any suggestions to modify the machine to fit a long-legged lifter better?
I have no trouble reaching great depth on a linear leg Press.

Thank you Alexander, happy new year too, appreciate your support on the log 🙂

So in the past with Pivot Leg Presses, I have found certain ones to be a lot easier to hit full rom, Atlantis is my fave, Cybex is up there too, in terms of changes you can make I would simply work within that range you have without lower back coming off the pad, that’s arguably your active ROM, any deeper and it will be a bit dangerous.

Work on hip, ankle and lumbar mobility to try & hit more ROM.

I would also just favour linear leg presses if you can get deeper overall!
