In main lifts – press, dl, sQ you are doing too 2 sets 6-10, 10-15? Or how you program that?

No in my squat and deadlift I have different rep schemes. My deadlift programme is currently a peaking one where I’m working to up to the World Deadlift Champs. It’s tough to explain so probably easier to follow this log for the next 6 weeks and you’ll get a good idea of what I’m doing.

With the squat I’m currently working to a top set of 1-5 reps and and just going on feel as I’m reintroducing the squat after a short break (due to WSM).

If I was in off season mode I would be using a linear progressive overload model with autoregulation that I designed – basically dropping the volume from 5-8 reps to 2-4 reps as the load increases over a period of 12 weeks. However due to the nature of my competitive calendar, I need to get prepared for heavy squats faster that I would like which is why I’m going off feel with the heavy 1-5 reps.

Hope all that makes some kind of sense!

Hi man, you rotate heavy SQ/speed DL and then another week heavy DL/speed SQ or how it looks?

No not at the moment. I alternate heavy deadlift and speed deadlift week to week but the squat loading remains constant.

This gives me a break from heavy pulls every week (as they are up around the 400kg mark now) but I need to keep the heavy squat work in to prepare for an upcoming car squat event.

    LIGHT UPPER

    CG Pulldowns
    Cable Facepulls
    Incline Barbell Pin Press
    Seated Barbell Pin Press
    Incline DB Fly
    DB Lateral Raise
    Pressdowns
    Reverse grip Pulldowns

All exercises consisted of a top set of 6-10 reps and a back off set of 10-15 reps

Really good session, nothing crazy as I have heavy squats and speed deadlifts tomorrow.

Hi guys a bit of a different kind of Athlete log for you.

I’m Adam Bishop and I’m the current Britain’s Strongest Man and 3 times top 10 World’s Strongest Man competitor.

I had the pleasure of studying at Loughborough Uni with both Jordan and Corinne and I’m very excited about linking back up with the TrainedByJP brand as part of a nutrition partnership.

While I know the majority of this site is bodybuilding focused I’m excited to display to you what it takes to be a top Strongman and document my training as I build towards the ultimate goal of winning the World’s Strongest Man title. The back end of this year is exceptionally busy for me as we return to live shows so it’s going to be a fun. Over the next 4 months I have the following shows booked in:

Strongman Classic at the Royal Albert Hall (July)

    The World Deadlift Championships (August)

    The Shaw Classic (August)

    Europe’s Strongest Man (September)

    Arnold Classic UK (October)

    Britain’s Strongest Man (October)

After this it will be off season time as I build towards World’s Strongest Man 2022 in May.

I hope you enjoy the training log!

    Good Luck with it JP.

It’s always a tough decision to back off from something that you’re good at and have done for such a big period of your life but putting your health and happiness first is paramount.

I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish in the next chapter! ??
